How much should I spend?

That depends on your duration and budget. Displays sent very high into the sky cost more per minute to keep busy whereas displays with medium fireworks can last longer and/or cost less per minute. We work to making your event even more 'memorable,' so as a rule state a minimum of £100/min should be spent. We will however, work with you and try our best to create the right balance between intensity and duration - all we can say is the more you spend and the less your duration - the more spectacular the fireworks will be!

What will it cost?

Our individual fireworks start from £8.50. We have no set packs, but we will make up a pack to suit your needs. If you want an Absolutely Fabulous Fireworks professional display, our prices start from £400 + Vat.

Are they safe?

All our DIY fireworks conform to the British Standard, BS 7114, which require fireworks to be quality tested prior to sale, to have adequate delay fuses prior to ignition, and to have labels with clear descriptions, warning and instructions.

Can I put on a display at any time of the year?

YES. Unlike some other EC countries, Britain has no laws restricting the times when you can let off fireworks, other than those concerning environmental health matters such as noise.

Do I need permission?

No, provided your display is on private property, but please be considerate of your neighbours when firing your display in the evening. It is against the law to fire after 11.00 p.m (festival dates permitting).

Do I need a licence?

No. At present anyone can put on a fireworks display without any formal training or licence.

Who may purchase fireworks?

You must be 18 years old or older to purchase fireworks. Our products are sold on the understanding that they will be used in accordance with all your local laws and regulations.

Where can I hold a display?

Any garden or field is suitable where you have at least 25 metres (80 feet) between spectators and fireworks, and a clear area at the rear of the firing site where rocket sticks and debris can fall harmlessly. For big displays the ideal venues are: playing fields, hotels, country houses grounds, or lake and seaside settings where reflections enhance the spectacle.

How should I prepare?

We can supply full instructions, firing order and equipment requirements with all our fireworks if sufficient time is given. We recommend you order and open your pack in good time, check its contents and plan your display prior to firing. On the day, set out the display, preferably in daylight. Keep everything well protected from wet weather by covering with bin liners and stand by to impress your guests!

What type of display should I have?

Are you building on any ideas? What type of audience are you entertaining, i.e. a display with a high noise level may not be suitable if a large number of the audience are young children.

I want some fireworks, but I don't know what?

Depends on how long you want it to last, how much space you have and your budget. We have over 150 different types of fireworks. Are you looking for a 5 minute show or something longer? An aerial show sent high into the sky in quick succession is the best way to really impress your guests. An intense display of 5 minutes will impress much more and be far more memorable than the same fireworks dragged out over 10-15 minutes.

Who should I notify?

We always advise that you inform the police, fire brigade, your neighbours and nearby owners of pets and farm animals of the date, place and time of the display.

Do I need insurance?

Most household policies include at least £1 million of public liability insurance and our own displays are covered by £5 million. However, if you are organising a public display you will need additional liability insurance.

What if it rains?

Provided you have kept your fireworks dry, by placing them in plastic bags when you set them up, this shouldn't be a problem. However, windy conditions can make firing a display hazardous and we would advise not to go ahead if it is any more than breezy.
